Heritage Landing: Muskegon's Premier Waterfront Gathering Place
If you're visiting Muskegon in the summertime to attend a concert, festival or other special event, there's a good chance it's being held at Heritage Landing along the spectacular shorelines of Muskegon Lake and Lake Michigan. In addition to hosting big events, this county-operated park is an amazing outdoor recreation space for walking, cycling, fishing, kayaking, picnicking and more.
It's hard to believe this waterfront site was once an industrial scrap yard. Muskegon County transformed this abandoned brownfield into a recreational gem. With all it has to offer residents and visitors, Heritage Landing is credited with infusing energy into downtown Muskegon.
Heritage Landing is a beautifully landscaped park with a huge children's playground area, outdoor concert pavilion, picnic and fishing areas, kayak launch, and scenic walking bridge. It also connects to the 12-mile Lakeshore Trail bike path. It's location at Shoreline Drive and Seventh Street in downtown Muskegon puts amazing restaurants, pubs, theatres, museums and attractions at your fingertips.
Among Heritage Landing's biggest events of the summer are three music festivals: the Unity Christian Music Festival on Aug. 10-13, the Shoreline Jazz Fest on Aug. 25-28, and the Michigan Irish Music Festival on Sept. 15-18. At each multi-day concert event, thousands of visitors will converge on downtown Muskegon for live music, food and entertainment.
The park also serves as Muskegon’s cruise ship dock. Passengers can disembark at Heritage Landing to explore Muskegon's historic and cultural sites before continuing on their journey through the Great Lakes.
With its picturesque views of Muskegon Lake and spectacular sunsets as a background, it's no wonder thousands will flock to Heritage Landing this summer to enjoy all of the excitement and recreation this waterfront venue has to offer.
