Each year for the last 18 years, Visit Muskegon has presented this self-guided fall foliage tour not only to show off the bright and wonderful colors that can be seen throughout Muskegon in the autumn season, but also to showcase historic sites and attractions, natural recreation areas, and local shops and restaurants.
Join in this fall tradition throughout the month of October and embark on a journey by car or bicycle that travels the scenic roads of Muskegon County in all their autumn splendor. Wind your way along Lake Michigan. Travel the historic West Michigan Pike Byway. Discover local shops, restaurants and attractions. Snap photos along your trip and enter them to win fun prizes!
Start at either the Muskegon Union Depot or the White Lake Train Depot to pick up your adventure map, then head out to explore Muskegon. Those who participate in this free event will receive discounts to area museums and coupons from local businesses.
Some of the West Michigan landmarks you'll encounter along the tour route include the Muskegon Farmers Market, with an abundance of fall harvest goodies, and the World's Largest Weathervane near White Lake in Montague, Michigan, which stands 48 feet tall. Stop at the 110-year-old Muskegon Museum of Art, renowned for its fine permanent collection of American and European paintings, sculpture, prints and drawings. Visit the Muskegon South Pierhead Light, which has lit the sandy shores of Lake Michigan for well over a century.
