Support Local Artisans at Michigan Makers Market
Spend the day admiring and shopping for fine art and handcrafted items created by Michigan's exceptional artisans at the inaugural Michigan Makers Market. The event is set for March 12, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the new VanDyk Mortgage Convention Center, which offers stunning views of Lake Muskegon and downtown Muskegon.
The Michigan Makers Market is a production of the Lakeshore Art Festival, which is expanding its commitment to the arts scene in West Michigan with this new indoor shopping event. About 100 fine art, craft and custom-skilled makers will be selling their made-in-Michigan products – including jewelry, candles, clothing, pottery, home decor, paintings, artisan foods and more. Admission is $5 in advance or at the door.
Head over to the Michigan Makers Market Facebook page for a sneak peek at some of the participating vendors and their unique products.
The Michigan Makers Market isn't the only reason to come to downtown Muskegon on March 12. Returning after a two-year hiatus, the St. Patrick's Day Parade is back! This celebration of Muskegon's Irish heritage kicks off at 11 a.m. The parade will travel from Sixth Street along Western Avenue to Second Street. Following the parade, from noon to 4 p.m., Shamrockin’ In Your Shanty will return to Western Avenue with drinks, eats and live Irish music in the Downtown Muskegon Social District.
There are other events happening around town that same day, such as the Shamrock Shuffle 5K organized by Run Muskegon, the Go-Green! Scavenger Hunt by 4-H Muskegon, music and entertainment at Unruly Brewing Co., and a Muskegon Lumberjacks game at Mercy Health Arena. (Michigan Makers Market attendees are eligible for discounted tickets to the hockey game.) So come to downtown Muskegon on March 12, not only to support talented local artisans, but also for a full day of fun – Michigan style!
